Chicago Marathon Runners to Get Juiced at Berry Chill With Fro-J

Frothy New Drink of Chilled Yogurt Plus Fresh-Squeezed Orange Juice Debuts on Marathon Route Oct. 12

CHICAGO, Oct 10, 2008 -- Chicago Marathon runners will get the first taste of Fro-J, a creamy new drink available only at Berry Chill, on mile two of the route on Oct. 12.
The mixture of chilled yogurt plus fresh-squeezed orange juice will be served outside Berry Chill at 132 N. LaSalle, which is on the marathon route.

"We're prepared to offer drinks to thousands of runners," said Berry Chill founder Michael Farah. "Last year's shortage of water happened in the early part of the race, and our store happens to be in the right spot for us to offer them some relief if they need it."

Fro-J will become a permanent menu item at all locations, including Berry Chill's latest location at Ogilvie Train Station, 500 W. Madison, which opens the day after the marathon on Oct. 13. Fro-J will cost $3.99 for a 16-ounce drink.

Berry Chill is low-calorie, non-fat, delicious chilled yogurt with live active cultures in every bite. The all-natural yogurt bar has a daily menu of Original chilled yogurt (a tangy treat) and rotating flavors made with all-natural ingredients that include Peach Mango, Ginger Green Tea and Banana Walnut Biscotti. Customers choose from more than a dozen fresh-fruit toppings, such as pineapple and papaya, and more than 30 dry toppings, such as Milk & Honey granola, Girl Scout cookies, and popular cereals.

The original Berry Chill, which opened in March 2008 at 635 N. State, serves more than 1,000 people per day, seven days a week. The new Loop location is even larger, with outdoor patio seating for 16 people, laptop stations, and free Wi-Fi. On Oct. 13, Berry Chill will open at 500 W. Madison (Ogilvie Train Station), with additional locations opening this fall at 957 W. Belmont and the Merchandise Mart.

At just 20 calories per ounce and 100 percent fat free, a serving of Berry Chill yogurt can serve as a healthy snack, meal replacement or guilt-free dessert. Made with lactose-free milk and yogurt, Berry Chill is deliciously creamy but naturally lactose free.
